Simon carries Jesus cross

As Jesus was on His way to the cross after being severely and grotesquely beaten and abused,  Simon was told to carry Jesus' cross.  Simon couldn't refuse or there would be severe consequences for him. So, he followed behind Jesus and carried His cross quietly and obediently from what I can tell.

Well,  we are not told to carry a cross by Roman soldiers.  However,  God does tell us in the Bible that we are to carry our cross, our burdens that He allows for His plan. Do I do that quietly and obediently? Do I complain and wonder what is wrong with the universe that everything is not perfect for me? Do I believe I am better and far more deserving than the perfect  Son of God to have an easy and perfect life when He had to endure suffering and persecution in order to become a sacrifice for my sins, my mistakes?

How humbling to know that I don't have to be perfect,  that I will have problems either of my own making or because it is in God's plan. That if I caused the problem, I can be forgiven because Jesus carried that cross of sin and death for me,  quietly and obediently.  If it is part of God's plan, then I should be honored to carry that cross as Jesus was.
