Rebekah and Isaac were the subject of my devotions this morning.
God gave them love at first sight. Good gave them a child for Jesus' lineage, God gave the servant who found Rebekah, the answer he needed to know Rebekah was the one, and God gave on and on and on. God had a plan. He is so good to us, that we don't have to worry about anything. He has a long-term plan, and we just need to stay in His will and not try to mess with it!
There in lies the problem. Who messed with God's will? Well, Esau sells his birthright, Rebecca encourages Isaac lie to his father to earn the blessing (note the word "earn" there...never a good thing to do when we are freely given our salvation), Isaac tells his father that God gave him speed to prepare the meal so quickly...what a liar!
Yet, despite everyone's sins, manipulations,and lies,guess what! God's will, His plan,still win and we have salvation because of that!
When will we learn? God has a plan; we need to pray and study to stay in God's will, and then get out of His way! He has great things to do, and we will not be able to change that! So, we should stop trying to manipulate, lie, etc. It won't change anything, because God wins every time!
Thank you, Father, that you win every time and not us with our short-sighted understanding!
