My vocation.

Quote from Puritan Prayers:

A Puritan’s Prayer: Vocation

PuritanHeavenly Father,
Thou hast placed me in the church
which Thy Son purchased by His own blood. Add grace to grace that I may live worthy of my vocation.
I am a voyager across life’s ocean;
Safe in heaven’s ark, may I pass through a troubled world  into the harbour of eternal rest.
I am a tree of the vineyard Thou hast planted.
Grant me not to be barren,
with worthless  leaves and wild grapes;
Prune me of useless branches;
Water me with dews of blessing.
I am part of the Lamb’s bride, the church.
Help me to be true, faithful, chaste, loving, pure, devoted;
Let no strong affection wantonly dally with the world.
May I live high above a love of things temporal,

sanctified, cleansed, unblemished, hallowed by grace,
    Thy love my fullness,
    Thy glory my joy,
    Thy precepts my pathway,
    Thy cross my resting place.
My heart is not always a flame of adoring love,
But, resting in Thy Son’s redemption,
I look forward to the days of heaven, where no langour shall oppress, no iniquities chill, no mists of unbelief dim the eye, no zeal ever tires.
Father, these thoughts are the stay, prop, and comfort of my soul.

Please read this about what vocation means to the Puritan. http://www.canonandculture.com/under-the-eye-of-god-the-puritan-doctrine-of-vocation-for-today-part-1/

It had been a rough week for our family! But this has refocused me to where I need to be!
Glorifying God is my vocation! My CALLING! Being used by God for His glory!  Being in heaven surrounded by His glory some day! I will need to do better about praying concerning everything I do.  I do so much on auto pilot. I know God has a plan for my family.  I will focus on that!

Father please help me to keep my focus on you only!

He is always behind us, waiting for us

Mary Magdalene returned to Jesus's tomb as soon as the Sabbath had been observed. She gets there in the dark light of the early morning to be near the one who saved her from seven demons, the one who loved her unconditionally when others banished her, the one she followed and supported in His ministry.  Now she is searching for that One.

She arrives at the tomb, and Jesus's body is not there!  What horror!  What confusion! What loss! Then someone calls her name, and she begs them to take her where they have hidden Him. Then...She hears Jesus voice!  What elation!  She looks up!  There is Jesus! Everything is alright!  The world makes sense again!

Do we seek Jesus like Mary Magdalene did? Early in the morning?  Earnestly? Continually yearing to have time with Him? Are we excited as we do His will?  As we pray, talk, to Him?

How exciting to have a saviour who is with us every minute of every day (whether we acknowledge it,  notice it, remember it)! What love!  Lord, I pray we all strive to return that love!

Reading the Bible...

Luke 24:9-10
9When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. 10It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles.

This is the verse describing what happened after the women went back to the tomb and found it empty.  I have read it over and over again multiple times. Haven't you? You know what it says. Why read it again? Just skim it,  and move on to the meat of the passage.  Right?

When you read the scripture verses above, did you skim over the names quickly? After all, you've read it a million times;  you know what it says!

Well,  I skimmed over the names, too. Then,  guess what!  My devotional this morning was about Joanna! Joanna you ask?  Joanna who? How did that get in there?  I need to go check my Bible to make sure this isn't a mistake in my devotional's online Bible! Maybe I need to start reading a hard copy of the Bible again if there are going to be so many mistakes!

Whoops! After double checking, guess what, Joanna has always been there!  I have ALWAYS skimmed over her! Oh my!

I learned two valuable lessons today from my devotion.  First, Joanna! She was the wife of one of Herod's house stewards.  She was mentioned in the Bible more than once! Because her husband was in Herod's employ, she probably put herself and her husband at great risk when she became a Christian. Then, she goes to the tomb with the other two Mary's and witnesses the earth shattering truth...Jesus had risen just as He said He would!  Yet, I had never noticed Joanna before.

Note to self: I thought the AD Chronicles on TV had added Joanna and Chuza as extra characters to embellish the story! You know how TV series are...anything for higher ratings. Well, I need to go back and rewatch that series and check more of the characters. I think I have skimmed the Bible too often and the writers for the AD Chronicles did not!

Concerning Joanna,  I am now wondering how many Joanna's I should have met, talked to, shared time with, but didn't, because I skimmed over the event in my life.

That brings me to my second lesson from the passage today.  Skimming! Skimming over passages in the Bible; skimming over listening to people talk; skimming over people I run in to! Skimming! I need to stop that!  God, the Master of the Universe, found time for every person (whether they are important in our eyes or not). If they are all important to Him, then I had better start learning to show them how important they are to me, also! I also need to not skim when I read the Bible!  Every word is important, as I learned today!

Father, starting today,  please help me to see others through your eyes.  Please help me to NOT skim over anyone ever again.

Arise!

Mark 5
36Overhearing[a] what they said, Jesus told him, “Don’t be afraid; just believe.” 37He did not let anyone follow him except Peter, James and John the brother of James. 38When they came to the home of the synagogue leader, Jesus saw a commotion, with people crying and wailing loudly. 39He went in and said to them, “Why all this commotion and wailing? The child is not dead but asleep.” 40But they laughed at him. After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were with him, and went in where the child was. 41He took her by the hand and said to her, “Talitha koum!” (which means “Little girl, I say to you, get up!”). 42Immediately the girl stood up and began to walk around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.

 Get up...arise!

We can mess up alot.  Daily. Hourly.  Every minute.  Say some things we shouldn't.  Do some thing we shouldn't.  Not say something we should.  Not do something we should.

But these verses show us that no matter what,  Jesus loves us enough to say,  you are forgiven,  arise,  walk in the knowledge that no matter what, I love you! Wow! Who doesn't feel special now!

She gave Everything!

Mark 12:41-44
The Widow’s Offering
41 rAnd he sat down opposite sthe treasury and watched the people tputting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. 42 And a poor widow came and put in two usmall copper coins, which make a penny.6 43 And he called his disciples to him and said to them, “Truly, I say to you, vthis poor widow has put in more than all those who are contributing to the offering box. 44 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her wpoverty has put in everything she had, all xshe had to live on.”

This passage doesn't say that the rich people did not give generously. Its focus is about the poor widow and how she gave everything she had. I am guessing she had to trust God for her food that week. She had to continue to suffer the reproach of the society she lived in as she was a widow. She had to find something to give the next time for the next offering.  Life didn't stop right there for the poor widow, and everything afterwards was wonderful!

I, many times, think one good deed/word/donation, is all that is asked at that moment and move on. I have my to do lists, my calendar, my agenda!  Did you notice the use of the pronoun "my" there!  MY focus is on myself...not God!

I like to accomplish tasks. God made me this way!  So, He knows I like to check things off my list. I know He doesn't dislike that trait or He wouldn't have given it to me. He wants me to use it. However, it should never take precedence over God!!!  So, once again, I am relearning that I need to focus on God, not the lists. Oh sure, the lists will be part of that focus, but the key is to keep them in perspective as part of the focus, not THE focus.  God is THE focus!  He is a jealous God!

Father, please help me to focus on you; to use all of the abilities/skills you have given me for your glory. Please help my family members and friends to focus on you more and more every day! Amen.

Disabled or enabled?

Luke 13:10-17
10On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, 11and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. 12When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” 13Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God. 14Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader said to the people, “There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.” 15The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? 16Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?” 17When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing.

This passage talks about a woman who is disabled for 18 years. Then Jesus shows up and He loves her (even though by church rules she was unclean and a societal misfit). Now she is enabled to do everything she wanted to do before. Her sins are forgiven. She has been enabled to follow Jesus.

I need to remember always that no matter what is going on, good or bad, the Father has great things in store for me. I need to focus on the Father, so that he can do what he needs to do through me. I need to focus on the Father so that the things of this world will not drag me down. I need to focus on the Father, so that Satan doesn't get a stronghold on my life.

I need to pray for others. I need to pray that Satan will not cause them to go the wrong direction, to say things they shouldn't say, to do things they shouldn't do, or to not do something when they should, or to not say something when they should.

My gracious, loving Father in heaven, please watch over all of my family and friends and myself today. Use us to glorify You. Use us for your will. Please help us to look at you, focus only on you, not on our infirmities, our sins, our weaknesses or the faults and weaknesses of others. Amen.

Pursued and Chosen

Hosea 1:2-3
When the Lord first spoke through Hosea, the Lord said to Hosea, “Go, take to yourself a wife of whoredom and have children of whoredom, for the land commits great whoredom by forsaking theLord.” So he went and took Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim…

Hosea 3:1-2
And the Lord said to me, x“Go again, love a woman who is loved by another man and is an adulteress, even as the Lord loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love cakes of raisins.” So I bought her for fifteen shekels of silver and a yhomer and a lethech1 of barley.

I have read these passages before, and have often thought to myself why would God do this to any person? Why would he have someone pursue someone else whom he knew was going to cheat on him, play around on him, make a fool of him, leave him? I find this whole story rather disgusting at first glance.

But then I read on...

“Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her. There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will sing as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt…”Hosea 2:14-15

And I finally figure it out. Just as Gomer had left her husband, playing around on her husband, and embarrassed her husband, and disobeyed her vows to her husband, so did Israel to God. As the Israelites left Egypt, they were excited and praising their God. Then they were in the wilderness, and they started complaining and feeling sorry for themselves. They then started worshiping other idols and betrayed their God who had love them wholeheartedly. Really?  He lead them out of Egypt!  He regularly performed miracles for them as they journied in the wilderness and this is how the repayed Him?

Now I turn around and look at myself. It's sad to think that we as Christians do not realize how much we betray God all the time. If money is our focus, if our children are our first focus, if our husbands are our first focus, if our own pleasures are our first desire, then we have betrayed God. We don't have to be a prostitute to do this, because every time we love something more than God we are doing this. That's a sad truth, and for that I ask God for forgiveness every day. When I focus more on my to do list than God I'm no better than the Israelites and the prostitute, Gomer.

Fortunately for us, we see the next part in Hosea. The part where God tells him to go and get her, forgive her, and love her just as God loves the Israelites and forgives them. You know he doesn't just love the Israelites He loves us also. He has chosen us and because he has chosen us, he is pursuing us.

Thank you Father that you continue to pursue us even when we pursue other idols instead of you. Thank you for sending Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior so that we can be forgiven of these horrible sins that we have committed against you. Sins of to do lists, sins of not giving you any time, sins of not praying for your guidance, anything that distracts us from focusing on you.

We are pursued by you and we are chosen by you father. Please help us to never wander from the path of searching, praying, glorifying, living for you and you alone.

David & Bathsheba -an example of God's grace and love for us all

Today's devotional was about David and Bathsheba. There were lots of questions about if Bathsheba knew what she was doing, if she seduced David, or if David commanded her to come and as a servant of the King she simply had to do what he wanted her to do. Either way, they lose their first son together as repayment for the sin. Later in life Bathsheba goes to David to ensure that Solomon's throne will be claimed and not overthrown by another brother. So we see the growth of a Bathsheba from the initial stages to being a strong woman who fought for her son,  who had a good relationship with David and with Nathan the prophet who came and warned her of what was happening.

There were lots of comments in the devotional today about how this was such a great example of God's mercy and forgiveness towards us. It is. David committed a heighness crime by using Bathsheba and then by killing Uriah to cover it up. They lose their first born because of it. God did tell them there would be repercussions to their sin. But, because God is merciful, they have another child together, Solomon, and he becomes the wisest king to rule on all the earth eventually.

So God has used Bathsheba and David to bring about Solomon, the greatest and wisest king who is the chosen one to build God's temple. He also used them in the lineage of Jesus. So we see that even when people do bad things, if they repent and then continue to pursue God, continue to pursue His glory, if they pursue forgiveness for their sins, God can use them greatly.

Supreme Court supports Gay Marriage - Now is not the time to sulk.

From Christiantoday.com

Six Things To Do after the Supreme Court Decision on Gay Marriage
Image: Mark Fischer/Flickr
Wlost this one. We and many others made the case to our culture that traditional marriage is God’s good design, that this institution, embodied by a man and a woman joining together, leads to social flourishing. But our culture is not convinced. Much to our disappointment, it is now the law of the land to permit other forms of “marriage.”
The temptation is to go off and sulk in our holy corner. Or to dig in our heels and fight harder. Or to lash out in anger. Or to despair. We can do better. Like taking to heart especially the Beatitudes:
The temptation is to go off and sulk in our holy corner. Or to dig in our heels and fight harder. Or to lash out in anger. Or to despair. We can do better.

Rejoice. Not in the decision, of course, but “Rejoice in the Lord always,” says Paul, “again I say rejoice.” And elsewhere, “Give thanks to God in all circumstances.” And this paraphrase: “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, or prevail against you in the public square because of me. Rejoice and be glad…” (Matt. 5:11).
Rejoice in what exactly? Let’s just note the big things: That God has not gone anywhere. That Christ’s death and resurrection remain the power of salvation for all. That the gospel still goes forth. That the gates of the Supreme Court or Congress cannot prevail against Christ’s church. That there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. That the kingdom will come—and that there remains a great deal of vital work for us to do in the church and in society until that day.

Repent. Another temptation now is to point the finger at the forces—political, social, philosophical, spiritual—arrayed against the church and its moral teaching. Without denying the reality of “principalities and powers” (Eph. 6:12), we do well to ponder this: What actions and attitudes have we imbibed that contribute to our culture’s dismissing our ethics? Our homophobia has revealed our fear and prejudice. Biblical inconsistency—our passion to root out sexual sins while relatively indifferent to racism, gluttony, and other sins—opens us to the charge of hypocrisy. Before we spend too much more time trying to straighten out the American neighborhood, we might get our own house in order. Blessed are the poor in spirit who mourn their sins (Matt. 5:3-4).
Before we spend too much more time trying to straighten out the American neighborhood, we might get our own house in order.

Rethink. This certainly means thinking afresh about what we will and will not do when, for example, a gay married couple, seeking to draw closer to God, shows up in church and wants to get involved. It nearly goes without saying that we will welcome them unconditionally as we would anyone who walks in the door. But what does love look like in this particular instance? How much participation do we encourage before we ask them to adopt the Christian sexual ethic? Much of this depends on a church’s tradition and its beliefs about baptism, church membership, eldership, and so forth. But many evangelical churches do not have a denominatonal tradition to lean on and will need to think through these matters with fresh urgency.
One issue that demands special attention is divorce and remarriage. The Bible has a fair amount to say about marriage (as much or more than it does on homosexuality), and yet the evangelical church has become lax about honoring the marriage vow. We use the word grace in a cheap way to avoid the awkward tough love of church discipline. Such inconsistency has been a major stumbling block for those outside the church. This does not mean we forbid all divorce, nor all remarriage. It does mean we evangelicals need to come to consensus about what constitutes legitimate biblical grounds for divorce and for remarriage, and maybe even create a covenant amongst ourselves that will help us to abide by our convictions on this matter.

Blessings

Today, I just want to praise God for our blessings.

A few days ago a big storm came through and broke a part of one of our trees. It didn't damage anyone's property including ours. We are grateful for God's protection even though we didn't know to pray for it or ask for it!  He just knew and took care of us!

We finished a few projects in the house recently. They were not fun, but the new backsplash is beautiful!  Brian and I enjoyed doing it together. I am grateful for the time we have together.

We went to my father-in-laws for Father's Day this past weekend. My father passed away long ago, so my father-in-law is the only human father I have. He is a great person, a practicing Christian, and a wonderful father. He and my mother-in-law have been so helpful to Brian and I. We owe them a huge debt of gratitude for all of their help. We are blessed to have them in our lives still.

Brian and I have some small vacation plans this week which we are looking forward to. I am grateful that God has granted health, time, money, and the ability to do things like this.

I have all the programs, trophies, plaques, etc. for the awards program I am in charge of this week. It is all ready to go, and I am not at all stressed because I finished it all early!  Yea!

I have time over the summer to work on my curriculum for the next school year. God has put some great ideas in my head, and I am hoping to incorporate them next school year! I am also going the students will live the ideas as much as I "think" they will.

We get to go on vacation with my oldest son and his family. We are hoping to vacation with my youngest son this fall...maybe...maybe not. Depends on everyone's schedule. If we can't, we will still get to see them on occasion. We will also get to see them this summer for birthdays, etc. Grateful for our sons and their families!

We have a small Bible Study Fellowship group that we went camping with last month...that was fun!  We rarely meet couples that are in about the same place we are in life, so these people have been a real blessing to us.

I am grateful for my husband, whom I have had more time to spend with lately and we have enjoyed that. We were not spending enough time together, and that is something that we should watch out for in the future.

I am grateful the Holy Spirit intercede for me.  Many times,  I have no clue how to phrase things,  or that I even should!  The Holy Spirit does! So, I don't have to worry about what I can't verbalize or rationalize,  because the Holy spirit will do that for me.

Most importantly, I am grateful for my God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit. With out God, Jesus Christ,  the Holy Spirit,  I would have a miserable existence and no hope for the future. However...with them, I know that I will be in heaven for eternity when my earthly body dies. I am not afraid!  I know that He will care for my family and friends...as I pray for that daily in order for Him to have the glory!

With all the good and bad wrapped up all together, It's a good life. Even better, it's a good life with the hope of a perfect one in heaven someday!

Apostasy - does God send evil sprouts?

God's awesome beauty and power!

We were greeted this morning with a text from our very gracious neighbor asking us to look out our back door.  A storm had come through over the weekend and some rather large braches of our once beautifil pear-shaped tree had fallen into our neighbor's fence and yard. You can see the big gap in the tree on the left side of it.

Nice neighbor that he is, he helped us cut up all the big branches into the pile on the yard (thanks Fred & Barbara Findley ).

Then we noticed the middle of the tree has cracked. Now we have to have our beautiful tree removed before it damages someone's fence,  or worse,  their house!  That would be a horrible thing!

This tree blossomed early in the spring and was so beautiful with thousands of white blooms indicating the cold gray winter is over and the new life of spring is here! It was full and green and shady all summer. Fun to hide and play under.  Its leaves turned a bright and vibrant red in the fall. Just breathtakingly beautiful! My grandchildren would hang from its red-leaved branches and pick the red berries that grew on it. ..hoping to use them for Christmas decorations. It is a beautiful reminder of the wonder of nature that God has created. I will miss this beautiful tree and alk the memories I have from it, but it is a reminder that all nature reflects God's beauty and His awesome power (the storm that brought down 1/4 of it).

This incident also reminds me that I am my brother's keeper.  I need to ensure that I, or my belongings, do them no harm...in fact I need to use my belongings to do good.

On that note....my neighbors and I used this opportunity to set a date to grill out together next week!  We are all so busy,  that we rarely see each other!

Was this God's way of saying "forget the trees,  remember your neighbors whom I love!" ?

Rahab. First the prostitute. Now the redeemed!

Joshua 2:1-24
1Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. “Go, look over the land,” he said, “especially Jericho.” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there. 2The king of Jericho was told, “Look, some of the Israelites have come here tonight to spy out the land.” 3So the king of Jericho sent this message to Rahab: “Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, because they have come to spy out the whole land.” 4But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. She said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they had come from. 5At dusk, when it was time to close the city gate, they left. 8Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof 9and said to them, “I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. 10We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea[a] for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed.[b] 11When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below. 12“Now then, please swear to me by the Lord that you will show kindness to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign 13that you will spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them—and that you will save us from death.” 14“Our lives for your lives!” the men assured her. “If you don’t tell what we are doing, we will treat you kindly and faithfully when the Lord gives us the land.”

Rahab was a prostitute who understood finally who Good was and acted accordingly. My devotion today emphasized how we crumble under the things we have done wrong and the names/labels we give ourselves and that others give us. However,  the TRUTH is, if we accept Jesus, we are redeemed FOR ETERNITY.  Read the lyrics tipi this song which sums up the message so well...or listen to it!

"Redeemed"

Seems like all I could see was the struggle
Haunted by ghosts that lived in my past
Bound up in shackles of all my failures
Wondering how long is this gonna last
Then You look at this prisoner and say to me "son
Stop fighting a fight it's already been won"

I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, now I'm not who I used to be
I am redeemed, I'm redeemed

All my life I have been called unworthy
Named by the voice of my shame and regret
But when I hear You whisper, "Child lift up your head"
I remember, oh God, You're not done with me yet

I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, now I'm not who I used to be

Because I don't have to be the old man inside of me
'Cause his day is long dead and gone
Because I've got a new name, a new life, I'm not the same
And a hope that will carry me home

I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, 'cause I'm not who I used to be

I am redeemed, You set me free
So I'll shake off these heavy chains
Wipe away every stain, yeah, I'm not who I used to be
Oh, God, I'm not who I used to be
Jesus, I'm not who I used to be
'Cause I am redeemed
Thank God, redeemed

When times are tough...

Numbers 26:59
59 The name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt. And she bore to Amram Aaron and Moses and Miriam their sister.

Exodus 1:22-2:10
22 Then Pharaoh commanded all his people, r“Every son that is born to the Hebrews1 you shall cast into sthe Nile, but you shall let every daughter live.”
The Birth of Moses

Now a tman from the house of Levi went and took as his wife a Levite woman. The woman conceived and bore a son, and uwhen she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him three months. When she could hide him no longer, she took for him a basket made of bulrushes1 and daubed it with bitumen and pitch. She put the child in it and placed it among the vreeds by the river bank. And whis sister stood at a distance to know what would be done to him. Now the daughter of Pharaoh came down to bathe at the river, while her young women walked beside the river. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her servant woman, and she took it. When she opened it, she saw the child, and behold, the baby was crying. She took pity on him and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.” Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and call you a nurse from the Hebrew women to nurse the child for you?” And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Go.” So the girl went and called the child’s mother. And Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child away and nurse him for me, and I will give you your wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him. 10 When the child grew older, she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, and he became xher son. She named him Moses, “Because,” she said, “I ydrew him out of the water.”2

Times are tough?  The time was lethal to all Jewish newborn boys!  I cannot imagine Jochebed's state of mind. Knowing when she gave birth to Moses, that the Egyptians wanted every male child dead and that as long as he was alive her whole household was in danger. Still she kept him for three months before devising a plan.  I do not believe she randomly decided to put Moses in a basket and then put in the river. Why? She coated the basket in tar so it wouldn't sink. She had her daughter put it in a specific place. It doesn't say she knew Pharaoh's daughter  would bathe there. However, knowing that this was HER baby, I would guess she did her homework!

So, then she waits.  Oh my!  The faith this woman had. She put Moses in a basket and waited...and then?  Her faith and trust in God was rewarded several times over. Not only was Moses found and taken in, but they asked her to nurse him, AND paid her to do it AND then raised Moses in the Pharaoh's palace with all the education and safety a child could ask for. Sure there were things going on that were not according to God's will, but He was watching out for Moses!

So, because Jochebed's strength through her faith (and God's will), Moses is raised up to lead Israel through the great Exodus!
